The
success of the NEA Project
The
Atlantic Area Water-sports Project (NEA – Atlantic Area
Interreg IIIB), run from 2004 to 2007 by 11
partners representing 11 regions, was aimed at the coordinated
development of water-sports tourism activities. The following
achievements contributed towards the success of the project:
Creation or boosting of regional waters-sports tourism networks;
Creation of an active and closely-knit trans-national network;
Survey of the marine leisure sector in the 7 regions;
Bringing into line the offer of joint water-sports tourism products,
based on:
quality,
promotion of the exceptional natural environment and the Atlantic
Area maritime heritage,
NEA water-sports tourism product Charter of quality,
Flagship scheme in each region,
Organisation of regional and inter-regional events promoting the
advantages of water sports in the Atlantic Area.
But, in addition, through this work carried out jointly over 3
years, the 11 partners have laid the foundations for a solid
trans-national network whose missions and composition will be
extended for the 2008-2013 period.
